Skills & Qualifications: 

Our Chicago production is seeking an Electrics Supervisor. This position is responsible for overseeing the Electrics Department and ensuring that the technical and aesthetic standards of the show’s lighting and electrics-related special effects are of the highest caliber. This is a full-time position reporting to the Production Manager.


Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining open communication about electrics issues and notes with other departments, stage management and the local direction team; overseeing the maintenance of the electrics rig; scheduling the electrics department; planning and maintaining the annual budget; attending meetings and rehearsals, and overseeing the hiring, training and evaluation of all electricians.


Show responsibilities include performing preset duties, executing show cues as well as changeover and post show duties in a safe, professional and timely manner. The Electrics Supervisor is required to work a minimum of 6 shows a week and be available for more in the heavy performance periods of Thanksgiving, Christmas through New Year and the Spring matinee season.


Qualified candidates must have an extensive background in theatrical lighting and running a crew. Solid experience in maintaining and repairing production gear is required. Basic carpentry skills are preferred. Qualified candidates must be safety conscious, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator/collaborator, organized and capable of having fun while maintaining high work standards and a sometimes-hectic schedule. 5+ years of related experience required. Bachelor’s or applicable degree preferred. This is a full-time, hourly position that requires evening, weekend and holiday hours.
