The Chicago Park District envisions parks as vital cultural spaces that encourage all Chicagoans to explore and embrace the arts and their power to enhance individual quality of life, neighborhood development and community dialogue. The Park District works with many of Chicago’s artists and arts organizations, offering music, theater, dance and other art forms in parks across the city.
The Program & Event Coordinator will serve as a community connector and cultural liaison for cultural programs and events in park Cultural Centers and as part of the Night Out in the Parks (NOIP) program. They will be tasked with finding and engaging resources in designated communities, building relationships and collaborating with community stakeholders and arts organizations of all sizes to enhance and promote park programming, primarily as part of the Cultural Center Initiative and NOIP. This work involves assessing the needs of artists, individual parks, and communities in order to create mutually beneficial relationships and programmatic outcomes.

Under supervision, coordinates special programs and events to bring programming resources to parks that would otherwise be unavailable. Performs related duties as required.

Plans and oversees special citywide programs in order to bring programming resources to the parks. Meets with individuals from partner organizations and determines tasks and then ensures their completion. Works with key individuals to define tasks and timeliness, gather and disseminate information and execute projects, programs and events. Prepares reports and promotional materials on special programs.

Salary $23.95 / Hourly

Position is part-time, approximately 25 hours per week.

Skills & Qualifications: 
Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field supplemented by three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of education and curriculum design principles. Ability to understand and implement elements of community based programming. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Organization and planning skills.
