Translating Light with Travis Roozee

Explore the landscape of Door County as you learn how to interpret various lighting conditions, control unfavorable situations, and prepare for the moment when beautiful natural light occurs. This hands-on workshop encourages thoughtful investigation while instilling fundamental photographic techniques.

Through a balanced curriculum of daily explorations, studio instruction, and critical discussion, you will develop technical and conceptual skills. Core photographic principles and image design will be reinforced in the studio and in the field. Gain confidence shooting in a variety of environments and lighting situations through practical and varied experience with Travis as your guide. Familiarity with your DSLR’s manual mode is required for this workshop.

Travis Roozée is an artist, educator, and professional photographer. His personal work investigates places that have been altered by external forces, often because of industrial development. Travis' work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States. His experience as an instructor encompasses technical and creative courses. Additionally, he produces commercial images for a diverse list of clients. Travis has an MFA in photography from the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
