CALL TO COMMUNITY LEADERS/ ORGANIZATIONS/ ARTISTS/PERFORMERS/ SPEAKERS
Narratives of Displacement is a campaign focused on spreading an awareness of persons displaced by war, persecution, social & economic status, and natural disasters. It is a creation of shared creative spaces where story-telling, activism, & accountability unite. We foster to creating a platform for voices of the displaced, as well supplying aid to established advocates of these commmunities.
A focus on curated events in Logan Square, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, Pilsen, Bridgeport, & Hyde Park. Community engagement is at the foundation of these transformed spaces, which are not only accessible, but approachable to those directly affected with in our community. Community engagement, inclusion, participation and cohesion through Chicago’s neighborhoods is pertinent.
Narratives of Displacement are stories that need to be told. We not only need to fundraise, but we need to spread awareness and empathy for our fellow people. The junction between this perceived idea of ‘them’ and ‘us’ needs to be bridged.
We are aiming to engage our peers through intersecting
creative communities, as well as connecting with the citizens in the neighborhoods the events are produced in. Promoting these connections through personal dialogue, story-telling, and performance. In turn, redirecting the traumatic equity of those affected directly and indirectly by displacement into positive change.
